I am a partner with an investment fund which has roughly $120m under management. We invest primarily in small/micro cap public companies. We have a 3-5 year time horizon. We take concentrated positions. We started in February, 2003 and have had returns far in excess of the market (after all fees and carry) since then. A large part of the fund's capital is my own and my partner's and all the outside capital is subject to a 2 year initial lock-up and then a 3 year rolling lock up. We have 2% management fee (which is based on a sliding scale if assets grow) and a 20% carry. We have raised very little capital to date (most of our assets have come from appreciation in our investments) and by 2007/2008 we had a lot of cash in the fund as we couldn't find attractive investments. We now are finding opportunities all around us and for the first time are about to begin trying to actively market the fund to raise $30-50 million. We do not believe institutional investors are likely to be interested in what we do but there are likely to be family offices or high net worth individuals who will be able to appreciate our approach and hopefully buy into the idea that we can over the next 5 years make a lot of money investing in solid undiscovered growth companies at what now are finally very attractive prices. We also have not done what other funds may have done with our track record and go and raise $1b. We will only raise money which we believe we can invest well and only in the structure which we believe we need to have great long-term returns.

Can you change your liquidity to monthly; or, does that no match with the underlying investments' liquidity? |
